RECOVERY AFTER
GYNAECOLOGICAL SURGERY
SUPPORT TO HELP YOU MOVE, REBUILD AND RECOVER WITH CONFIDENCE
_____________
Recovery after gynaecological surgery can affect your strength, pelvic floor, abdominal wall, scar and confidence with movement. Physiotherapy can support you through your recovery and help gradually return to everyday life and exercise.
HOW I CAN HELP
-
Scar assessment and treatment – improving mobility, sensitivity and restriction.
-
Pelvic floor assessment and rehabilitation – including an internal assessment if appropriate and with your consent.
-
Abdominal and core rehabilitation – gradually rebuilding strength and coordination.
-
Mobility – helping you move more comfortably and confidently.
-
Return to lifting and everyday activities – gradually building your strength back up.
-
Return to exercise – a personalised progression back to Pilates, gym, running or your chosen activity.
You'll leave with a clear plan and exercises to continue at home, with progression as your recovery develops.
The aim is to help you feel strong and confident in your body again — not simply healed.

PELVIC HEALTH PHYSIOTHERAPY
SPECIALIST SUPPORT FOR PELVIC FLOOR PROBLEMS AT EVERY STAGE OF LIFE
Pelvic floor symptoms are common and can affect bladder and bowel function, comfort, exercise and everyday life. Symptoms can also become more noticeable around perimenopause and menopause.

-
Pelvic organ prolapse
-
Bladder leakage, urgency and frequency or both
-
Bowel symptoms
-
Pelvic floor weakness
-
Pelvic pain or discomfort
-
Pain with intercourse
-
Returning to exercise with pelvic floor symptoms
-
How I can help
We'll talk through your symptoms and how they're affecting you. Where appropriate and with your consent, your assessment may include an internal pelvic floor examination.
Treatment is tailored to you and may include pelvic floor rehabilitation, bladder and bowel advice, breathing and pressure management, strengthening, hands-on treatment and exercise.

The aim is to help you understand your symptoms, improve your confidence and get back to the things you enjoy.

PHYSIOTHERAPY
DURING PREGNANCY
SUPPORT TO HELP YOU STAY COMFORTABLE, ACTIVE AND CONFIDENT THROUGHT PREGNANCY
Pregnancy can place increased demands on your pelvis, back and pelvic floor. You don't have to simply put up with pain or discomfort because you're pregnant.
I CAN HELP WITH:
-
Pelvic girdle pain (PGP)
-
Lower back pain
-
Hip, groin and pubic bone pain
-
SIJ pain
-
Pelvic floor symptoms
-
Pain or difficulty with everyday movement and exercise
How I can help
Your assessment and treatment will be tailored to you, your pregnancy and your symptoms. This may include hands-on treatment, advice around movement and daily activities, and an individual exercise programme to improve mobility, strength and pelvic support.
I do not routinely carry out an internal pelvic floor examination during pregnancy. We can still assess your symptoms and work on pelvic floor awareness, breathing, relaxation and preparation for birth without an internal examination.
Preparing for Birth
As you move towards the later stages of pregnancy, we can also look at ways to help you feel more prepared for birth, including:
-
Birth positions and movement
-
Breathing and pelvic floor relaxation
-
Understanding how the pelvis moves during labour
-
Perineal massage and how to practise this safely at home
The aim is to help you stay active during pregnancy, manage any symptoms and feel more confident and prepared for birth.
